Today I didnt know that Daylight Savings time had ended so i went about my usual Sunday routine but i did everything an hour later. I go to the gym every sunday around 3 O' Clock so i can get in an hour long workout before they close at 4. When i got there at what i thought was 3 the doors were open. So i went on up to the changing room and put on my gear. When i walked in the gym there were 5 people in their working out. ( 3 of the 5 were staff members). One of the guys came and asked me, "Are you Muslim?". I responded "No, Im not", He quickly replied "Sorry, Im gonna have to ask you to leave , the gym is only open for Muslims now".
I left straight away , I didnt make an issue about it. The guy that told me this was just doing his job and i am a firm believer of the saying "dont shoot the messenger". So i just got changed and went home.
However, I just find it kind of discriminatory that in this day and age that segregation like this is being allowed. Even worse is that its being allowed by Croydon Council. As far as i know the Gym is owned by the Council.
Where do you draw the line? Suppose Christians were to say that they wanted a time where only they were allowed to use the gym. There would be a huge uproar. Or how about Whites or Blacks only sessions at the gym. If this type of segregation continues youll end up with session for each ethnic group and religous group. I have no problem with someone paying to rent out the gym for their own purposes but I have a problem with being disallowed to use the gym becuase im not Muslim. If, I had lied and said that I was Muslim , I would have probably been allowed to saty but why should I lie.
What do you think of this? Do you think this is segregation and do you think it should be going on in London in 2008? I would really like to hear your responses.
Anyways Im off now to go eat some Bakewell Tarts "an excellent substiture for going to the gym"

its downright unfair. doesnt matter what religion or race we are. no one is superior. no one should be of a higher station. if we get cut we all bleed blood of the same color. there is no such thing as golden blood.

It is ridiculous. In the name of giving Muslims "equal rights" they are taking rights away from other individuals. That is totally unfair and it is happening more and more often in this country. Soon we weill be living under sharia Law
lol it's bad, i woulda complained to the council and ask why exactly they get muslims only time not leaving until a decent and detailed answer was given. Come to my gym, full of eastern europeans..
